Book review

"The Building of England", created by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, is an unrivalled series of comprehensive architectural guides covering every English county and all periods from prehistoric times to the present day. A lucid, descriptive gazetteer is set in context by an introductory survey of each county's architectural heritage. This small book is a short history and bibliography of Pevsner's work. The first edition of this book was written in 1983. The publication of this new, limited edition was made possible by the enthusiasm of Steve Hare of the Penguin Collectors' Society and the generosity of the Pevsner Memorial Trust.
